Apologizing: Why is It So Difficult?

September 20th, 2010 by admin No comments »

apologizing, apology, cryingHave you ever done something wrong? Of course you have; we all have. But what do you do about it?

It may be hard to say goodbye but it is even harder to say that you’re sorry. What is at the heart of this matter?

What goes on when you do something wrong? First there is guilt. Guilt is a horrible feeling that can lead to many destructive habits. One of those habits is denial. Your guilt is so overwhelming that you pretend that nothing ever happened.

Guilt can also have you searching for someone else to take the blame. No one wants to look bad in another person’s eyes, so they find a scapegoat to ease their feelings. Some of these acts are almost second nature when you have done something wrong.

Tips to Fathers: How to Balance Family and Work

August 14th, 2010 by admin No comments »

family, balancing act, balance family and workIt was once acceptable for a father to spend all their time at work, but now fathers want a bigger role in their child’s life. They want to learn the balancing act that is work and family. If you are that type of father, then we have good news for you. It won’t be easy to “have it all” but it will be rewarding and well worth it. Here are a few ways to balance family and work if you are a father.

  • Give yourself a cushion – It can be easy to have meetings and soccer games back to back. The problem here is that there is no room for human error. And, more than likely, you will miss the game over the meeting. Do your best not to schedule meetings late on days that you are attending functions for your kids or time with the spouse. With built-in travel time you can relax and get everywhere you need to be.
  • Prioritize – What if you have a chance to fit one more thing into your day before you go home? Is it that important that it can’t wait until the next day? If it can wait, then go home and get extra time with your family. Create a calendar that encompasses work and family time so they won’t overlap.

Healthy Diet: Reasons to Healthy Eating

April 11th, 2010 by admin No comments »

healthy diet, healthy eating, nutrition, eating healthy, healthy food, fruitsA healthy diet can save you lots of grief down the road of life. What you put in your body will affect it sooner or later. Think about it. If you put bad gas, or oil into your car, it’s not going to run right, if at all. There are certain things that an engine requires to run smoothly and continue operating down the road. The same applies with your body. Fill it up with a bunch junk and deprive it of what it needs and you more than likely won’t be getting to good of mileage out of it. Just to back up this healthy eating talk, I have listed a few reasons, since everyone needs reasons, to eat healthier.

Eating a healthy diet of more fruits and vegetables could actually prevent various cancers. Fruits and vegetables have antioxidants that help to protect healthy cells. The more we eat, the more protection we have. It has been suggested that we eat at least 5 servings a day. Eat an apple, or banana or some grapes instead of grabbing a bag of chips. Eat a veggie side with your meals – french fries don’t count – or a salad with a variety of vegetables. A serving is only usually a half of a cup which is not a huge portion, so 5 servings is not as much as you think.

Eating healthy is good for your heart. Studies have shown that those who eat diets that are high in fat are more likely to have major heart issues. Eating more fruits and vegetables and backing off of the junk food as well as the fatty meat and dairy products will help to reduce heart-damaging saturated fat and cholesterol. The natural chemicals in fruits and vegetables and the soluble fiber they contain help to prevent fatty deposits form forming in blood vessels, help to lower cholesterol, help to lower blood pressure, reduce the chance of heart disease and strokes.

The Rationale Behind Cosmetic Dentistry

February 21st, 2010 by admin No comments »

A great smile is a remarkable tool in your business and a great asset in your career. Studies in the United States show that people who have great sets of teeth and pleasant faces are more trusted by others. They appear to be more honest, warm and more engaging compared to people who do not have great smiles. One reason for this is perhaps on the act of smiling. People who do not have a great set of teeth will feel self-conscious when they smile compared to those who can smile freely and easily. Thus, people who so not have great smiles appear to others as either grumpy or contrived.

Thus, people who are in industries or fields that need to meet with a lot of clients often take care of their teeth. Some who already have great sets of teeth will only need to visit the dentist every so often to have the regular check-up and cleaning. Others will need a more complicated approach to make their smiles brighter and better. This is where cosmetic dentistry comes in.

Unlike the usual dental procedures that we fear as kids, cosmetic dentistry involves a more complicated batch of procedures. Basically, the dentist will be doing the same procedures except that they will be doing “a lot” with an aim to make your smile perfect. A cosmetic dentistry procedure can include several extractions, cleaning, whitening and putting in braces and retainer. Some will even need to have their teeth thinned out and replaced by fakes ones. All these in the name of a beautiful smile.

Tips When Buying and Using Cardio Exercise Equipment

February 2nd, 2010 by admin No comments »

cardio exercise equipment, cardio exercise, cardio exercise machine, cardiovascular exercise, weight lossIf you intend to lose weight, you should prefer cardiovascular exercises. Thus, when investing in workout machines, it is a necessity to choose any of the available cardio exercise equipment. To be able to realize your fitness and weight loss goals, you need to work out smart. Choose and buy the best machine that you think would be most useful for your goals. Here are some guidelines.

Choose cardio exercise equipment that feels very right. Take note of the impact brought about by such machines. If you have lower back problems, it is definitely not a good idea to choose a stationary bicycle over a treadmill. Always bear in mind that in choosing and buying the tools, it should not be about the cardio exercise machine. Prioritize the relationship between your body and the equipment. If any part of your body hurts of gets uncomfortable when using a machine, ditch it.

Choose a machine that would facilitate use of more muscles. In general, more muscles used translate to more calories burned. However, be aware of the flipside of the coin. Using more muscles in cardio exercise equipment would quickly bring about fatigue, especially if you are a beginner. Take it slowly but surely.
